$10,200,000 Awarded to Man Hit by Truck

The family of a 44-year old man killed by a Daily News truck received a settlement of $10,200,000 from the newspaper company. The victim had appropriately and lawfully stopped his van - due to a standstill from construction ahead -- while coming off the Verrazano Bridge onto the Gowanus expressway in Brooklyn. The Daily News truck driver was negligently inattentive and plowed his truck into the van, smashing it into a tractor trailer ahead. The victim, a husband and the father of two young daughters, died 43 minutes after the rear-end collision. He was represented by Thomas Moore of KDLM. The case settled in May, 2016 in New York County.
